Some stills from my first attempt at animation, need to go to the roundhouse to properly edit the video though

Found an online program, I like the result it weirdly sounds more poetic when read without emotion.
—> I would like to take this further, distort the voice more and play around a bit
I think this is the beginning of a poem rather than a finished one, the rhythm and flow doesn’t work but I want to record my progress
–> it would also be interesting to play around with synthesised voices, could I find a program on the internet – that would work well for my theme. Or explore editing into a soundscape rather than a recognisable poem (like Cage)
More process shots
Adding a few shots of the process of making collage, I change everything up and rearrange things so it’s good to keep a record of it over time

Walter Richard Sickert, Summer Lightning, 1931-2, oil paint on canvas
One of the paintings I saw at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool, one of Sickert’s ‘English Echoes’ in which he blatantly copied images from Victoriana.
“Sickert challenges the viewer to consider the fine line between ‘high art’ and magazine illustration, originality and plagiarism” – from the didactic plaque.
I think this idea of re-using and re-appropriating images from popular culture is quite key to my work. I want to co-opt the original intent of the images to create my own meaning.
Daria Martin (b.1973): In the Palace, 2000, film (16mm), projection with colour and sound.
Apologies for the bootleg copy, really liked the use of the body as sculpture and form. Coupled with the costumes and set it feels like an alternate realm, one of deep introspection and intimacy

I like elements of this one, lines here and there, but overall it needs a focus. I also need to stay on topic and not branch off into mental health….
One of a few poems I’ve been writing over the holidays, still need to figure out the direction I want to take them in, they’re a bit all over the place right now
Cindy Sherman (b.1954): Doll’s Clothes, 1975, film (super 8mm) shown as video.
The stop motion animation in this is really intriguing, quite similar to the way I want to explore my own animations
